The Orange County Sustainability Decathlon (OCSD) is thrilled to congratulate OCSD cofounder Dr. Mike Moodian and the OC World production team. They recently received a Telly Award and the Orange County Press Club’s Real Orange Award for “Coastal Crisis: California’s Vanishing Beaches.”
The documentary, which explores the effects of sea-level rise and erosion on California’s coastal communities, made its debut on Los Angeles station KDOC on February 20, 2022. The documentary later aired on PBS station KLCS for a summer 2022 run, and it screened at four film festivals during the same year, winning the Best of Festival Award at the 2022 Los Angeles Television, Script, and Film Festival.
The public affairs multimedia group OC World produced “Coastal Crisis.” Since launching last year, OC World has already won a Golden Mike Award and multiple Telly and Orange County Press Club awards. Dr. Moodian serves on the organization’s advisory board. OC World’s excellent weekly program airs every Monday at 5:00 p.m. (PDT) on KLCS-PBS.
“OC World continues to value and appreciate its creative collaborations with Mike Moodian, who served as a coproducer and lead writer on ‘Coastal Crises: California’s Vanishing Beaches,’” said Scott Hays, OC World founder and executive producer. “Mike’s keen reporting and writing skills, and his voice-over performance, were instrumental in the success of this documentary-short, which to date has been viewed roughly 65,000 times on the OC World YouTube channel.”
The OCSD community is excited to see Dr. Moodian and OC World’s exceptional work recognized and celebrated by the Southern California news industry. We encourage everyone to watch “Coastal Crisis” and become informed about the challenges facing California’s coastal communities.
