The Orange County Sustainability Decathlon (OCSD) is thrilled to congratulate OCSD cofounder Dr. Mike Moodian for his recent nomination for a Golden Mike Award for “Coastal Crisis: California’s Vanishing Beaches.” The documentary, which explores the effects of sea-level rise and erosion on California’s coastal communities, was nominated in a Best Long Form Program or Documentary category at the 73rd Golden Mike Award Ceremony, held on March 29, 2023, by the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California.
Dr. Moodian is the lead writer, coproducer, and codirector of “Coastal Crisis,” which made its debut on Los Angeles station KDOC on February 20, 2022. The documentary later aired on PBS station KLCS for a summer 2022 run, and it screened at four film festivals during the same year, winning the Best of Festival Award at the 2022 Los Angeles Television, Script, and Film Festival.
The OCSD community is excited to see Dr. Moodian’s exceptional work recognized and celebrated by the Southern California broadcast news industry. We encourage everyone to watch “Coastal Crisis” and become informed about the challenges facing California’s coastal communities.
